Set In Stone

Track of the Day: Jordan Allen ‘Set In Stone’

We ended our live review of Jordan Allen on the sentiment: ‘Allen’s music making could put Bolton on the map for music, making the town recognised, for more than just naff Peter Kay jokes about garlic bread and cheesecake.’ And with his new track ‘Set In Stone’, we certainly still stand by it. Following his EP ‘Remembered’, Allen continues to bring rock and roll up to the speed of 2014, with this one.

Tingles of guitar open ‘Set In Stone’, developing into tinkers which rise and fall, with a belting bass riff. Allen’s vocals seem to take a softer tone on this one. He sings of trouble and grievance with a girl, ‘you know you’re never coming back from this love and there’s nothing more to say, I’ll put some clothes in a plastic bag so, I’ll be on my way…‘ Other tracks, such as ‘Remembered’, have seen thrusting guitar chords and spitting lyrics. Yet here, Allen’s cooler, calculated side, is impressively portrayed. As the instruments pick up speed and venom, his voice winds handsomely with disgust, ‘I’m on my own, I’m set in stone tonight!’

Unlike the fourth reason listed to listen to the track on SoundCloud, 4) The cover is picture of some lad passed out in a bus stop 1 hour into Leeds Carnage,‘ Jordan Allen shows stamina. With sharp music, constant hard work and a good attitude, his name is growing in recognition in music realms. In his geek-chic specs and smarts, and with tunes as belting as this, Jordan Allen is on his way to being the Buddy Holly of our generation.
